The A14 Road Bridge over the River Cam, severing rather than linking opposing sides, is a haunting, almost spiritual place.

Large majestic concrete pillars create dramatic diagonals of shadow and sun in the early morning and evening. At midday shimmering light on dark water, sometimes moving and sometimes crystal still, ricochets in flashes across the cave of the roof.

Gaps of silence between the shuddering bursts of overhead traffic echo with drips of water falling in puddles of spreading mould.

Ever-changing layers of artwork by unknown artists reflect enigmatic images and indecipherable calligraphy. Left litter and sparkling broken glass tell more stories, real and imagined in a world upside down.
