The Somerset paper gives more detail and also much darker contrast.

A14 Bridge 3 Icicles Screenprint Bread and Butter

On Bread and Butter screamy paper. I like the bright warmth of this paper. Here the art effect is appropriate to the subject matter.

On whiter Somerset paper that gives maximum tone and detail on the ink. But again the white spots would need correcting through the inking process - they are not ther on the newsprint. If they are on the screen then they can be stopped out with fluid. But more detail on the left would require more detail in the original duotone image. This paper also gives a less authentic 'art look' that is less effective than the grungy screenprint image.

A14 Bridge Pylon 2 Somerset

The white Somerset paper gives more detailed ink. Turned upside down with the gate reflection at the bottom and the pylon vinishing into the dark makes the image more intriguing. This was a suggestion from someone at Cambridge Cmara Club.
