Voices That Will Be Heard: Exhibition Portfolio, Aldeburgh 2023

'Voices that Will be Heard' is a body of documentary and visual narrative work about life and lives, particularly social and environmental issues, along the Suffolk Coast including Aldeburgh, Shingle Street, Dunwich and Orford.

'Life on the Edge' brings together documentary photography, photography-based screen and solar-plate prints and books including dramatic seascapes, semi-humorous townscapes and 'outsider walking reflections'.

' Tales from the Edge' is a series of illustrated short fiction and poetry books about history and current social and environmental issues. The books were initially inspired by imagined narratives found in textures along the coast - wooden boards, rusty tractors, flint walls and fishing nets, developed as photographs, sketches and prints. Narratives these are then further developed into social and environmental 'tales' based on observations and conversations from life.

My submission for the exhibition will include completely new work developed specially for the exhibition portfolio.

It builds on my final degree portfolio for a BA in Visual Communications with Open College of the Arts to be presented in February 2023. This is still very much in the process of finalisation, but for more details of the portfolios here, including current draft of the books and examples of my other degree work see:

Selected images will be available as cards, as well as larger prints and books.
